Habitat for Humanity marks a major milestone today (MON) with the dedication of it’s 500,000th home worldwide. Work then begins on home number 500,001 today as well. Volunteers, homeowners and partners of Minnesota Valley Habitat for Humanity will join in celebrating World Habitat Day. The local chapter is among the more than 2,300 Habitat affiliates operating in nearly 80 countries and all 50 states. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, a family somewhere in the world improves its housing situation every 7 minutes of every hour of every day of the year. Last year the organization served nearly 75,000 families. Tune in to 860AM-KNUJ at 3:15 this (MON) afternoon to hear from Minnesota Valley Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Sarah Rotering talk about what the New Ulm affiliate has accomplished to address housing needs on a local level.
