A primary election is being held in Watonwan County today (TUE) to fill a vacant county board seat. The First District Watonwan County Board seat is open following the death of Commissioner Dwayne Krenz. The district lies completely in the City of Madelia, and a total of 4 candidates filed for the position: Raymond Gustafson, Lawrence Peterson, Bruce Young and John Hoeft. The polls are open until 8pm today at the Madelia VFW-American Legion. Following the Primary, the top 2 vote-getters will compete in a special election for the seat on November 29th. The winner will begin their duties on the first Monday in January.
