The City of St. Peter is one of the few communities in the area holding elections this odd-year Election Day. Voters in St. Peter will be choosing 3 city councilors, 4 school board members, and a mayor. In the city’s North Ward, incumbent Ed Weatherill did not file for re-election. Voters will choose between Jeff Brand and Roger Willemsen for the seat. Two seats will be on the ballot for St. Peter’s South Ward. In the running are Incumbent John Kvamme, David B. McGuire, Pete Rheaume, and Chuck Zieman. Joel Brinker has withdrawn from the race, although his name will still appear on the ballot. There are 4 seats that will be open on the St. Peter School Board, and 4 candidates running, and St. Peter Mayor Tim Strand is running unopposed. St. Peter voters will also be deciding upon a school referendum. The district is asking that the current levy of $301 per-pupil which expires next year be revoked and a new 10 year, $551 per-pupil levy be approved. Election Day is November 8th.
