A portion of southbound Highway 169 south of Mankato is closed until further notice after a sinkhole appeared on the highway Thursday afternoon. Minnesota Department of Transportation crews found the hole in the road surface near the acceleration lane and determined that part of the road subsurface has been undermined. The southbound lanes of 169 between Blue Earth County Road 33 and Highway 68 will remain closed until further notice while repairs are made. Motorists will be detoured to Blue Earth County Roads 33 and 90 in the meantime. For current information on road closures around the state call 511 or log on to www.511mn.org.
