A Hanska man was hit by a truck and killed on Highway 15 near New Ulm Tuesday morning. It happened at approximately 9:15am near the intersection with Highway 68 just south of New Ulm. 65-year-old Daniel Hegler was reportedly walking southbound on the northbound side of the highway when he was hit by a northbound Freightliner semi tractor-trailer. Hegler was dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, 61-year-old Gene Walters of Hanska was not hurt. The highway was closed for a time following the crash while the accident was being investigated. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
