The New Ulm District 88 School Board on Thursday approved a boy’s hockey cooperative agreement with Sleepy Eye and Springfield schools. Superintendent Harold Remme says it will be a beneficial move for District 88. The agreement pairs Sleepy Eye, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s and Springfield students with the New Ulm Eagles, who already have co-op agreements with MVL and New Ulm Cathedral. The team will retain the Eagles name, and the partner schools will be responsible for the transportation of out-of-town athletes. Remme says that the State High School League has given the district permission to stay in the same class with the new co-op for 1 year, after which the guidelines will be reviewed. In other business Thursday, the New Ulm School Board accepted the donation of an Automatic External Defibrillator from the Ocherstrum family. The device will become part of District 88′s travelling equipment.
