Burning bans in Blue Earth, Redwood and Renville Counties have been lifted at this time. Many local area counties still have a fire danger rating of “Moderate,” but that is an upgrade from the “Very High” fire danger of recent weeks. Recent rains have brought some moisture to the area, but residents are being asked to use common sense when burning. Always check the wind conditions prior to burning anything, and be aware of the proximity of standing crops or other combustible material. You are required to have a permit to burn anything, and must call your local Sheriff’s office to let them know when you will be burning. The Department of Natural Resources will lift restrictions on open burning beginning Friday as well, meaning that campfires will be allowed throughout the state and permits for open burning of debris will be issued once again.
