A traffic stop in Lake Crystal has led to felony drug charges being filed against a Farmington man. 41-year-old Lonnie Alan Giles allegedly had nearly 8 grams of methamphetamine in his possession when the car he was in was pulled over for rolling through a stop sign on West Blue Earth Street in Lake Crystal. Giles was a passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle, and the Lake Crystal police officer became suspicious after smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having a small bag of pot and his license was revoked. When Giles was taken out of the car, however, a small bag of meth reportedly dropped out of his pocket. A second bag of meth was found on the back seat. Giles has been charged with a 3rd-degree drug crime, and his bail was set at $25,000. His next court appearance is October 20th.
