A portion of Highway 169 south of Mankato closed down by a sinkhole on Thursday has been reopened to traffic. The southbound lanes of 169 had still been closed early Friday morning after the hole was noticed Thursday afternoon. Mn/DOT crews worked extra hours making the emergency repairs, and were able to open the highway Friday morning. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area of South Bend Township from Blue Earth County Road 33 to Highway 68 because gravel was used to make the emergency repairs, and there is a bump on the surface of the road. More permanent repairs will be made on Monday, creating temporary lane restrictions in that area. For updated travel information statewide you can call 511 or log on to www.511mn.org.
