Highway 14 Expansion Update 08 Oct 11

The Minnesota Department of Transportation on Friday announced that the first step of expanding Highway 14 from North Mankato to New Ulm will be completed as scheduled over the next 2 years, but will be divided into 2 phases. Work on the first phase is scheduled to begin in May 2012, and includes constructing an embankment for a bridge and ramps at Nicollet County Road 41, constructing ditches, ponds and drainage structures, paving the eastbound lane of 14, and completing the connections to Nicollet County Road 6 and Pleasant View Drive. Traffic will be detoured during the construction season, but will be restored to 1 lane each way during the winter months. In 2013 the construction work calls for completing the project by paving westbound 14, completing the County Road 41 interchange ramps, bridge, and roundabouts, and striping and signing.
