A bad bearing in a combine head is being blamed for a cornfield fire just south of Gaylord Wednesday afternoon. The fire in a field just north of the Paul Meyers residence was reported at around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Gaylord Firefighters reportedly had the fire under control quickly, and there was never any threat to the Meyers home. No one was injured and no buildings were damaged. Fire crews cleared the scene in less than three hours. The chance of fire remains high today (THU) as the extremely dry conditions continue.
