An elderly New Ulm woman was killed in a crash on Highway 99 just east of Nicollett Sunday afternoon. It happened at just after 4:30pm when a westbound Chrysler Concorde driven by 71-year-old Irene Schultz crossed the centerline and was hit head-on by an eastbound semi-tractor trailer. Schultz died at the scene. The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Daryle Hansen of St. Paul was not hurt. He was reportedly driving for D & A Truckline out of New Ulm at the time. Nicollet Fire and Rescue and River’s Edge Ambulance assisted the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol at the scene.
