A Faribault man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison on charges of criminal vehicular homicide for the April 2010 death of his girlfriend. Twenty-three-year-old Mitchell Bongers was drunk when he lost control of his car and flipped into the Cannon River, sweeping 20-year-old Brittney Landsverk of Faribault away. She was missing for nearly three months before searchers found her body about a mile downriver from the crash site. Two other passengers in the car made it to safety. Authorities say Bongers had marijuana in his system at the time of the crash as well.
