Credit Union heist sentence 22 Oct 11

A Mankato man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for driving the getaway car during a robbery at the Minnesota State University credit union. 24-year-old Anthony Akiti was convicted of one count of armed robbery and one count of obstruction of justice. Officials say Akiti drove the getaway car after co-defendant Chop Tang stole $17,000 from the the credit union at gunpoint last December. Prosecutors say Akiti concealed some of the money in his apartment and after his arrest, directed his wife to get rid of it. Tang was senteced to five years in prison last July on one count of armed bank robbery.
