Cold Weather Rule Coming 11 Oct 11

The state’s Cold Weather Rule goes into effect this Saturday. The law protects utility customers in Minnesota from getting their heat shut off through April 15th, although it does not mean that customers do not have to pay their bills. Utility customers must commit to some sort of payment plan with their energy provider. Eligible Minnesotans can apply for federal grant money to help pay their heating bills. The average Energy Assistance Program grant in Minnesota is about 400 dollars.
