Here is the latest sports news: Twins fall. NHL benches Staubitz. Wild welcome Blues.

Royals Down Twins
(Minneapolis, MN) — Mike Moustakas bombed a solo home run to lead the Royals to a 7-3 victory over the Twins. Michael Cuddyer [[ kuh-DIE-er ]] hit his 20th home run of the season in a losing effort. Kevin Slowey fell to 0-and-8, giving up five runs in five-and-two-third innings. Anthony Swarzak will take on Sean O’Sullivan tonight in the middle contest of three.

NHL Suspends Staubitz
(New York, NY) — Minnesota forward Brad Staubitz has been suspended for six games by the National Hockey League. Staubitz will miss the final three Wild preseason games, as well as the first three games of the regular season, and will forfeit over nine-thousand-dollars in salary which goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. The penalty was levied after Staubitz received a game misconduct and major penalty for checking Blue Jackets forward Cody Bass from behind early in the third period of last Friday’s preseason game against Columbus. The 27-year-old Edmonton native will not be eligible to return until the Wild face Edmonton on October 13th.

Wild Host Blues
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Wild welcome the St. Louis Blues to Xcel Energy Center this evening for a preseason skate. Minnesota carries a 3-and-1 record into the contest. Following the matchup with the Note, the Wild travel to Columbus for a matchup with the Blue Jackets on Thursday, followed by the preseason finale at home on Friday against Edmonton.
