A Lake Crystal teen was sentenced to 10 days in jail on Tuesday for providing alcohol to his 18-year-old girlfriend prior to her fatal drunk driving crash. 19-year-old Cody Jared Oldenborg pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor providing alcohol to a minor in a plea deal. One of the terms of his plea agreement is that he provide additional information to law enforcement about the rural Lake Crystal party in March of 2010 that Lexi Hagen had attended prior to crashing her car on the way home the next morning. Her blood-alcohol content was over twice the legal limit for driving at the time of the crash. Prosecutors continue to investigate the role the host parent, Bob Yarger, played in the party and if he provided any of the beer. Oldenborg’s brother, Josh, who reportedly bought the beer, pleaded guilty to a similar charge as Cody and was sentenced to 20 days in jail.
