Firefighters in Minnesota are working to raise fire safety awareness as we head into Fire Prevention Month. Cooking is the leading cause of residential fires in Minnesota. State Fire Marshal Jerry Rosendahl says that candles are the number-two cause. There were 39 fire deaths in Minnnesota in 2010. Rosendahl says the theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Month is “Protect Your Family From Fire.” KNUJ will again be broadcasting from local area fire departments starting next Wednesday. We’ll be visiting with Sleepy Eye, Lake Crystal, Gaylord, Winthrop and Nicollet firefighters.
