A 27-year-old Cokato man has been charged with felony 2nd-degree burglary over allegations that he broke into a home near Nicollet and destroyed numerous items inside. Gregory Allen Scheel was found on the roof of another home the same evening and was taken into custody. The burglary just north of Nicollet was reported while Scheel was being processed into the Nicollet County Jail, and his wallet and car keys were found at the scene. A woman was also found passed out in a nearby ditch, and she reportedly told authorities that she and Scheel had smoked an unknown substance in Gaylord earlier that day, but later got into a car accident and Scheel had left to get help. She was able to identify the keys found in the vandalized home as belonging to him. He now faces up to 10 years in prison for the crime, and will be back in court next Tuesday.
