The second phase of Joel Munt’s murder trial was to determine if Munt was insane last March when he rammed his car into Svetlana Munt’s vehicle and then shot her in front of the couple’s three children. It took a jury about 35 minutes this (Monday) morning to determine that Munt was not insane. The judge then sentenced Munt to life in prison without the chance for parole. A first-degree murder conviction under Minnesota law forces an automatic appeal of the verdict.
