Jury selection continues today (TUE) for the trial of a Burnsville man accused of killing his ex-wife in Mankato last year. 35-year-old Joel Marvin Munt has been charged with 1st-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Svetlana Munt in front of the couple’s 3 young children in a parking lot last March. A total of 7 jurors of the 14 needed were chosen on Monday. The defense excused 6 potential jury members Monday and made another motion to request a change of venue and move the trial out of Blue Earth County out of concern that Munt get a fair and impartial verdict. A decision on that request has not been made at this time, and jury selection will continue today and tomorrow (WED). Once the jury is selected the trial is expected to take about 3 weeks. Munt faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.
