A routine traffic stop in Mankato Monday night turned into a hit-and-run incident. A police officer attempted to stop a Ford Ranger at about 6:20 Monday night on Mankato’s Riverfront Drive, but the driver reportedly jumped out of the truck while it was still moving and ran away on foot. The empty truck then struck a parked vehicle. Authorities then learned that the title for the truck was in the process of being transferred to 35-year-old Tory Michael Shelton of Madison Lake, and he is now being sought in connection with the case. The previous owner of the truck heard the event unfold over a police scanner, and immediately notified authorities that it was not him driving the vehicle. Shelton faces possible charges of hit and run, fleeing on foot, and obstruction of justice.
