A home in Mankato took heavy damage in an early morning fire Friday, and a 22-year-old man is now in custody facing arson charges. A total of around 25 firefighters battled the blaze that broke out at the home on 5th Street in Mankato at around 2:30am, and had the fire under control within about 20 minutes. The back side of the residence was destroyed in the fire, and damages are being estimated at $70,000. Authorities say the fire was intentionally set, and Levi Benjamin Eisenmenger of Fairmont was arrested shortly after the fire broke out. He will make his first appearance in court on Monday on 1st-degree arson charges. Authorities have not said how they knew Eisenmenger was connected to the fire.
