A man wanted for allegedly forging thousands of dollars worth of checks across southern Minnesota has been taken into custody in Belle Plaine. 54-year-old Harry Maddox III of Columbia Heights was arrested in a traffic stop after a Belle Plaine police officer recognized him from a wanted sign. Maddox is accused of cashing a check for $962 at the Belle Plaine Coburn’s, and is also suspected of cashing over $4,800 worth of fraudulent checks at a dozen different businesses across the region. He has been charged with 3 counts of felony check forgery.
