The former president of the Danube Economic Development Authority appeared in Renville County District Court Wednesday on charges of allegedly taking almost $21,000 in funds from the agency. Sharon Lothert of Hector faces three felony charges and one gross misdemeanor charge for misconduct by a public officer while she served as president from August of 2009 thru December 2010. Wednesday’s hearing was to hear arguments about statements that were made by Lothert to a Renville County Deputy in Danube before she was airlifted to a medical facility due to an overdose on pills. Lothert told the judge Wednesday she wants a jury trial. The judge is expected to make a ruling at a later date.
