An Elk River man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in her Kasota apartment last year pleaded guilty in Le Sueur County Court today (FRI). 24-year-old Tyler Andrew Wicklund faces a minimum of 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to 1st-degree murder with intent while committing a felony as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. He had been charged with premeditated 1st-degree murder and murder while committing a criminal sex act after slitting the throat of 20-year-old Jessica Buboltz on October 29th, 2010. Those charges will be dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea, and rather than life in prison Wicklund will be eligible for parole after 30 years. The plea agreement was reportedly approved by the victim’s family. Sentencing will take place November 2nd.
