The Elk River man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in her Kasota apartment last year will likely be accepting a plea deal in the murder case against him. 24-year-old Tyler Andrew Wicklund made an appearance in court Tuesday prior to his trial getting underway next month. He is charged with 2 counts of first-degree murder for the death of 20-year-old Jessica Buboltz on October 29th. The 2 had reportedly been discussing their relationship early that morning when Wicklund allegedly had sex with her before following her into a bathroom and slitting her throat. He was arrested later that day after allegedly confessing the crime to his grandmother. A settlement conference to accept a possible plea deal is set for September 30th. If a deal is not reached Wicklund’s trial would begin October 10th. He faces the possibility of life in prison.
