Two bent steel beams from the collapsed World Trade Center towers in New York City are on display at the Gustavus Adolphus campus in St. Peter. The college sculptor received the pieces of steel from the Port Authority a couple years ago and plans to use them in future artwork. Gustavus Senior Chaplain Pastor Rod Anderson says the sections will be outside Christ Chapel for several days. He says people can come by, view the beams, touch them, pray if they want to and just remember what happened that day ten years ago.
Pastor Anderson says there’s a sign that reads “Bent I-beams from World Trade Center 9/11/01″ and a big question in red that asks “Why?” The public is invited to a special worship Sunday at Gustavus about forgiveness, healing and moving on. It is scheduled to start at 10:30 am.
