The New Ulm District 88 School Board voted to drop fees for band and choir to comply with state statutes during their meeting Thursday night. The fees were dropped because grades are attached for participation and they are similar to other classes. Fees will continue for Jazz Band and the Payne Street Singers because participation is voluntary and grades are not attached to participation. Rental fees were also set for school instruments – $60 for brass and $30 for percussion. The board also requested an annual donation from the Music Boosters to offset band and choir costs as well as establishing a monetary donation process at the end of the year to defray the cost of uniform cleaning.
