New Ulm city officials will be taking a bicycle ride around town today (TUE).
The New Ulm Bicycle Club will host several elected and appointed city officials on a ride along the proposed 12-mile bike route around the city, including the existing 7 miles of paved bike paths.
Bicycle Club Secretary Terry Sveine says the purpose of the ride is to show how practical the proposed route looping around the city is, and to get ideas and insight into the project.
The hope is to get specially-made signs placed along the bike route, and to have special maps made showing the route that could then be printed out at the chamber of commerce to encourage bicycle tourism.
Today’s ride gets underway at 5:30pm at German Park.
