Fairmont Garbage Fire 20 Aug 11

A Waste Management recycling building west of Fairmont was destroyed by a fire on Friday. Fire departments from Fairmont, Welcome, Sherburn and Ceylon responded to the scene at around noon Friday, but the building holding recyclable materials was quickly consumed by the blaze. No one was in the building at the time, and employees had quickly cleared the premises when the fire was discovered. Firefighters had the fire under control within an hour, and kept it contained to the one building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and more information is expected to be available on Monday.
