Thursday was Senior Citizen Day at the Brown County Free Fair, and distinguished seniors were honored during a special program. Dennis Griebel received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award and LeRoy and Delores Flor were presented the annual Good Folks Community Service Award. Griebel has dedicated more than 25 years of his life to working on the Brown County Fairgrounds. He’s also put in over 17 years helping the Brown County Heartland Express. The Flors’ were honored for their commitment to volunteering for New Ulm seniors, including the many things they do for CAST, Community and Seniors Together. Thursday’s program also included the recognition of several Brown County Century Farms, as well as a “Sesquicentennial” Farm, the Willard Manderfeld family farm.
