Bike Tour Visits New Ulm 19 Aug 11

Around 275 bicyclists will be arriving in New Ulm today (FRI) as part of the group Bicycle Across Minnesota’s 6th annual tour of the state.

BAM Spokesperson Lisa Austin says the group tours a different part of the state every year, but this is their first time in southwestern Minnesota. They stayed overnight in Mankato and New Prague earlier this week, and will be in Sleepy Eye on Saturday before returning to Mankato on Sunday.

While in New Ulm today, many of the bicyclists will be camping at Jefferson Elementary School, and there will be a special program for them at the Holiday Inn this evening featuring music by New Ulm’s Goodwill Ambassadors, the Concord Singers.

New Ulm Mayor Bob Beussman will be presented a commemorative bicycle rack this evening as well on behalf of New Ulm for hosting the tour.
